Business Description:
SIMS Metal Management Limited (SGM) recycles metals, electronics and a variety of other materials ranging to plastics, and also provides waste management and ancillary services. The company has operations in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, North America, Asia and Europe.

Strategy Analysis:
Sims Metal Management reported a net loss of $295.5m for the half-year ended 31 December 2012. Revenues from ordinary activities were $3.43bn, down 25.1% from the same period last year, primarily due to a reduction of intake and shipments in North America. Diluted EPS was (253.3) cents compared to (270.0) cents last year. Net operating cash flow was $76.4m compared to $17.0m last year. No dividend was declared.
