Business Description: Icon Energy Limited (ICN) is an energy company focusing on exploration and production of oil and gas feedstock in Australia and globally. ICN has interest in three prolific hydrocarbon basins which are Cooper Basin, Surat Basin, and Gippsland Basin.
Strategy Analysis: ICN aims to systematically increase and scale production in coal bed methane (CSG) and selective oil exploration activities. Tenements are mostly concentrated near the East Coast of Queensland and in the USA and have in place plans for continuing future development. Company obtains capability and capital through farmin partners. ICN current focus is on the Surat Basin for CSG exploration and production where it has a long term joint venture agreement with Stanwell Corporation, providing it steady income when the power station comes on line in about four to five years.
