Overview
OM-IP Stratum Limited is based on a capital guaranteed fund developed by the Man Group, a UK based international financial services group founded in 1783.
The fund, called Man-AP Stratum Limited, was launched in Europe in October 1999. It was extremely well received attracting positive reviews in the international financial press and subscriptions for more than US$226 million.
Man Stratum Fund
OM-IP Stratum Limited aims to generate medium term capital growth over a seven year term while providing the security of a capital guarantee and a rising guarantee from Westpac+. It will apply the same investment strategy as the Man Stratum Fund which was launched by Man Investments in October 1999.
The Man Stratum Fund has returned 80.9%* net to investors in 59 months and 16.4%pa* over the last 4 years. Importantly, the fund has also provided investors with a significant element of diversification by recording positive medium term growth during the recent correction on global stockmarkets.
The Westpac Guarantee
The Westpac Guarantee+ contains two parts: the Capital Guarantee and the Rising Guarantee.
The Capital Guarantee is designed to provide the holders of the Shares on the Maturity Date (31 December 2011) with the security of receiving a minimum amount of A$1.00 for each Share held on the Maturity Date.
The Rising Guarantee allows the Company to lock in a portion of the trading profits after an initial growth target of 15% has been achieved. The Westpac Guarantee will then increase by an amount equal to 50% of any new trading profits (after making good any prior years' losses) generated in a financial year.
This will mean that, subject to the terms of the Westpac Guarantee, investors holding Shares on the Maturity Date will have a safety net that will rise when new trading profits are generated in a financial year and are locked away by the Company through the Rising Guarantee.
Diversification
OM-IP Stratum Limited has been structured as a medium term investment. The Man Stratum Fund and the AHL Institutional Program have a history of being able to provide diversification during stockmarket corrections.
